Preparing Your BMW Car for Winter

Winter is quickly approaching here in the Bentonville, AR region. Though our Southern winter climate conditions aren’t quite as extreme as they are in some parts of the country, we still receive our fair share of cold weather, sleet, and even some snow.

Here at BMW of Northwest Arkansas, our mechanics recommend getting your BMW car in top condition so that it can handle the winter weather. Here is how we’ll prepare your car for winter at our BMW service center.

Tire Check

The last thing you want during a snowstorm is to be to slipping and sliding across the road because your tires don’t have enough tread. Your tires should be rotated according to the service schedule in your owner’s manual so that they wear evenly. Additionally, seasonal decreases in temperature can cause fluctuations in tire pressure, so our mechanics will ensure that your BMW tires are properly inflated.

Battery Check

In cold temperatures, a car battery requires more power to start up. In order to avoid getting stuck in your garage with a dead battery on a frigid winter morning, make sure that your car’s battery has enough charge to last you the winter.

Cooling System

Most mechanics recommend that your car has a ratio between 50/50 and 70/30 of antifreeze, or coolant, to water. This is especially important in the winter. Our mechanics will let you know the appropriate ratio for your specific make and model BMW car.

Wiper Blade Change

The onset of winter is a great time to change out your windshield wiper blades. We’ll use authentic OEM BMW parts from our BMW parts department to ensure top quality.

Schedule your winter service today at BMW of Northwest Arkansas. Our mechanics look forward to getting your car into shape before the snow falls.
