You already know how important regular service for your BMW car is, but you may still have trouble getting routine maintenance. The culprit is likely your limited time — we’re all busier than ever these days, so carving out a few hours to have your vehicle worked on is often tricky. So, how long does BMW service take, exactly? BMW of Northwest Arkansas goes over what you need to know.

Basic BMW Maintenance: Every 5,000 Miles

BMW recommends basic preventative maintenance every 5,000 miles or two to three times per year. During these visits, there are a few areas with your car that need attention. All fluids should be checked to make sure that they are at the right level. The air pressure levels of the tires also need to be gauged.

This preventative maintenance includes inspecting critical components and reviewing your vehicle’s Condition Based Service system for any alerts. All of this will take around one to two hours.

BMW Oil Service: Every 10,000 Miles or 12 Months

BMW’s official oil service interval is every 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. This is when your oil should be changed and your tires rotated as well. BMW’s advanced Condition Based Service (CBS) system monitors your oil and will alert you when service is needed.

In addition to the oil change, technicians will verify the function of many of your car’s basic components, including the brakes, horn, windshield wipers, engine coolant, rubber belts, suspension and tires. Altogether, this should probably take two or three hours.
