If you have only driven a traditional gas-powered car and ever looked under the hood, you would have seen the source of its power: the engine. This is one of the key things missing from an electric vehicle.
Instead, they get their power from a battery, which then sends electricity to one or more motors. The electric motor (or motors) spins, which generates torque, allowing the wheels to turn, thus propelling the car forward.
Fueling an EV
When a vehicle that runs on gas needs fuel, it just has to be taken to a gas station. An EV, on the other hand, needs to be charged, and you can do this in different ways. For example, you can take it to a DC Fast Charging station, which will get the battery from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
You can also use a 240-volt outlet at your home, where it will generally take between eight and 10 hours to get your BMW EV fully charged.
