Powertrains
New BMW EVs are powerful, which is an accurate way to describe the BMW iX. All three of the SUV’s trims have an xDrive® all-wheel drive system that keeps the BMW iX sure-footed. The base BMW iX xDrive45 trim has a total system output of 402 horsepower, enabling the SUV to reach 60 miles per hour from a standstill in 4.9 seconds.
Like the base trim, the midlevel BMW iX xDrive60 model has an electronically controlled top speed of 124 mph. Total system output for the BMW iX xDrive60 is 536 horsepower. That’s enough power for the EV to reach 60 mph a half-second faster than the base trim.
With an electronically controlled top speed of 155 mph when it has performance tires, the BMW iX M70 xDrive is the fastest of all the SUV’s models. The total system output for the top-of-the-line trim is 650 horsepower in My Mode Sport or 811 horsepower when Launch Control is engaged. It takes just 3.6 seconds for the BMW iX M70 xDrive® to go from zero to 60 mph.
Charging Times
Depending on various factors, such as the trim you choose, the BMW iX can cover as many as 340 miles between charges. While the SUV is compatible with Level 2 Charging, the fastest way to “refuel” the EV is by using Level 3 Charging. It only takes 34 – 35 minutes for the SUV to go from a 10 percent charge up to 80 percent capacity using the latter type of charger.
Standard Equipment
Advanced safety equipment and technology features are abundant for the BMW iX. On the safety front, the SUV has a blind spot monitor and speed limit assist, and it’s eligible for hands-free driving. The EV’s tech features include wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity, a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, and a 14.1-inch infotainment touchscreen.
