This new BMW EV comes in two trims: the i5 eDrive40 trim and the i5 xDrive40 trim. The i5 eDrive40 trim features a powerful battery, a single electric motor, and rear-wheel drive (RWD) – a combination capable of 335 horsepower, 295 lb-ft of torque, and 0 – 60 in 5.4 seconds. The i5 xDrive40 trim adds a second electric motor and xDrive® all-wheel drive (AWD), outputting 389 horsepower, 295 lb-ft of torque, and a 4.9-second 0 – 60 time.
Range and Charging
Manufacturer-estimated range for the i5 eDrive40 trim is 278 to 310 miles. For the i5 xDrive40 trim, it’s 259 to 278 miles. Charging-wise, the range of options is even broader this year with the addition of a NACS charge port that’s compatible with Tesla Supercharger® charging stations. This means that, combined with this EV’s standard CCS charging adapters, the BMW i5 can now be charged virtually anywhere.
Infotainment
State-of-the-art technology is prevalent in the 2027 BMW i5.
