2025 BMW 5 Series vs. Lexus ES

Power and Fuel Economy

The 2025 BMW 5 Series does come with a lot of muscle, whether you go with the base or available engine. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine comes standard, generating 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The other option for this new BMW is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine that pumps out 375 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque.

The base engine in the Lexus ES is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that will only give you 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Even if you upgrade to the 3.5-liter V6, it can’t match what the available BMW 5 Series engine offers, as it produces just 302 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque.

Space and Comfort

The cabin of the 2025 BMW 5 Series is plush and comfortable and quite large. Both rows are spacious, and five people will fit nicely, and heated front seats are standard. This sedan also has a ton of trunk space: 18.3 cubic feet, and it comes standard with a power trunk lid as well.

The Lexus ES also has two rows, but space is lacking in the back seats, and heated seats require an upgrade. You also won’t have nearly the amount of trunk room to work with, as it contains just 13.9 cubic feet.

Tech Features

Technology is another impressive area of the 2025 BMW 5 Series. The infotainment system is easy to use and operate, with a huge 14.9-inch touchscreen and voice commands. Every model also has wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®, HD and satellite radio, and an in-dash navigation system.

The Lexus ES has a small touchscreen. In fact, at just eight inches, it’s almost half the size of one in the BMW 5 Series. Plus, navigation isn’t included in the base model.
