All-New 2018 BMW M5 Makes 600 Horsepower, Goes on Sale Next Spring

We’re quite well acquainted with the latest generation of the 5 Series, but its M Performance counterpart has been under wraps… until now. Meet the 2018 BMW M5, which stands out visually from 530i and 540i variants with front fender vents, blue brake calipers, a larger grille, and aggressive rear deck. But it’s the engine that’s the real star of this new executive-level rocket.

BMW has revised the M5’s twin-turbo V8 to put out 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque—40 hp and 53 lb-ft more than the outgoing model. This time, though, the eight-speed automatic doesn’t send power just to the rear wheels, but to an M xDrive all-wheel drive system. Yes, you can toggle RWD-only mode, but with AWD, the M5 hits sixty in 3.2 seconds. Backing up that might at standard 15.5 inch front, and 15 inch rear brake discs with six-piston front calipers, as well as a widened track and revised suspension.

Already enticed by this potent slice of performance insanity? You can voice your interest now by contacting our BMW dealership in Bentonville, AR. When it arrives next spring, we can call you to go ahead with your order, and configure it to your liking.
